IST is college-prep

Although we are accustomed to thinking of ourselves as a PK - Elementary school, IST is really "college-prep". 100% of IST's Junior School students plan on going to university; many even have a specific institution in mind!

How can a school whose students are younger than twelve be "college-prep"?

Common definitions of college-preparatory include :

• independent (funded by tuition and donations, governed by a Board of Trustees)
• scholarships
• low student-to-teacher ratios, individual attention, individualised learning
• advanced courses, high standards, challenging and demanding
• education of the whole child
• strong extra-curicular programme
• leadership opportunities
• increased student chances of qualifying for leading colleges and universities

These all apply to IST, our students are on the path to college. In terms of "articulation" (ie, moving to the next educational level), while we may be focusing immediately on Middle School, our ultimate goal is to prepare our students for life - both within and without academia : education for an international community, language-immersion and values for a global society.

IST's goal is to "Open the World to Your Child", and in doing so, we truly are "college-prep".
