The International School of Tucson welcomes applications from qualified and experienced educational professionals. We seek dynamic and active candidates who should be educated to bachelor's degree level or higher; have teaching qualifications and three years' experience as the "teacher in charge" of a class; overseas qualifications / experience would be advantageous. While fluency in English is not required for teaching staff outside the English Section, please note that all candidates should be highly literate in their teaching language and should expect to sit a written assessment during the interview process. Involvement in IST’s co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes are expected of all members of staff. (Basketball, Drama, Science and/or Soccer are preferred.) IBPYP experience is preferred for all positions. International candidates are encouraged to apply.

Elementary Spanish-Immersion Teacher

Needed to cover maternity leave 9 April - 25 May 2011. Ideally, the appointee would continue through the 2012 Summer Programme (see below). There is a strong likelihood of another position commencing 2012/2013 (see below).

French Play Group Leader / German Play Group Leader / Russian Play Group Leader

Leading Play Groups (aka "mommy & Me") for children 6 - 36 months. Days, times and numbers of sessions to be arranged. Native speaker preferred; must be authorised to work in the US. Contact us for more information.

JS English Teacher / Head of English

This exciting new full-time position involves teaching in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11) (50%) and taking responsibility for schoolwide English instruction and activities (50%). Ideally this person would teach also in our 2012 Summer Programme (see below). The position resulting from our first J5 promotion and will involve marketing and general outreach. Academic responsibilities include continuing to develop integration with national and international satandards and assessments, ensuring that our students are at the same level or higher as students nationally and internationally, our involvement in various English-language contests etc. A formal announcement and job description will be available from January 2012. PS French Teacher

A substitute position for Semester One 2012/2013  while a current staff member is on sabbatical. We anticipate the position will be permanent, although in a different capacity, due to progrramme growth. Contact us for more information.

JS French Teacher / Head of French

This exciting new full-time position involves teaching in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11) (50%) and taking responsibility for schoolwide French instruction and activities (50%). Ideally this person would teach also in our 2012 Summer Programme (see below). The position resulting from our first J5 promotion and will involve marketing, general French outreach, liaising with the French government / embassy / consulates, Mission Laique Francaise, local French community, the University of Arizona, other French-medium schools etc. Academic responsibilities include continuing to develop integration with the French / Quebecois national curriculum, ensuring that our students are at the same level or higher as students in France / Quebec, our involvement in the National French contest etc. A formal announcement and job description will be available from January 2012. JS Spanish Teacher / Head of Spanish

This exciting new full-time position involves teaching in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11) (50%), commencing mid-July 2012 and taking responsibility for schoolwide Spanish instruction and activities (50%). Ideally this person would teach also in our 2012 Summer Programme (see below). The new position results from our first J5 promotion and will involve marketing, general Spanish outreach, liaising with the Mexican and Spanish governments / embassies / consulates, local Hispanohablante community, the University of Arizona, other Spanish-medium schools etc. Academic responsibilities include continuing to develop integration with the Spanish / Mexican national curricula (possibly also other national standards as determined by actual student enrolment), ensuring that our students are at the same level or higher as students in Spain / Mexico etc, our involvement in the National Spanish examinations etc. A formal announcement and job description will be available from January 2012. Australia / New Zealand Working Holiday Programme

Junior School "ab intitio" Chinese / Chinese B (Mandarin) Teacher

This is a new position in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11), commencing mid-July 2012 : half-time teaching students aged 5 - 8 who have had no prior exposure to Chinese and half-time teaching Chinese B to our older students. Candidates should be native speakers and educated to bachelor's degree level or higher. Teaching qualifications and three years' experience as the "teacher in charge" of a class are required; overseas qualifications and experience would be advantageous. Half-time Junior School "ab intitio" Spanish Teacher

This is a new position in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11), commencing mid-July 2012, teaching students aged 5 - 8 who have had no prior exposure to Spanish. Candidates should be native speakers and educated to bachelor's degree level or higher. Teaching qualifications and three years' experience as the "teacher in charge" of a class are required; overseas qualifications and experience would be advantageous. Pre-School Spanish Teacher

Two full-time positions teaching in our Pre-School programme (Reception (ages 3 - 5), Transition (ages 3 - 5) or Foundation (ages 4 - 6)) for new classes opening mid-July 2012. Part-time JS Physical Education / Dance Teacher

Teaching one AM Session and one PM Session weekly in our Junior School programme (ages 5 - 11), commencing mid-July 2012. This is a new position and programme, and will involve developing the curriculum and materials. We are seeking a dynamic and active combination of dance / high-impact aerobics / yoga. Candidates should be educated to bachelor's degree level or higher; teaching qualifications, three years' experience as the "teacher in charge" of a class, and overseas qualifications / experience would be advantageous. Pre-School Chinese / French / German / Spanish Teacher Assistants

Teacher Assistants ("TA") work in the classroom with the lead teacher and students. Candidates should be native speakers and educated to bachelor's degree level or higher. Teaching qualifications and experience as the "teacher in charge" of a class are preferred; overseas qualifications and experience would be advantageous. Teacher Assistants at IST are not subservient to the "teacher-in-charge"; they have different roles and responsibilities. These positions are not currently open to international candidates. Language Interns and Language Assistants

We are always interested in hearing from candidates for Language Assistant or Language Intern positions, with preference given to candidates who can remain for a full semester (late July – late December; early January – early June).

Instrumental Music Teachers

At IST, we aim to deliver the highest calibre academic programme for our students, which includes private and group music instruction. As one of IST's Music teachers, you provide one hour of instruction per week per student in your primary instrument, spread over three 20-minute sessions (two private lessons and one ensemble rehearsal) occurring before our regular school day between 7.00 - 8.10am. Lesson times are arranged according to the number of enrolled students; each teacher can expect 4-5 students per week. A minimum commitment of one semester is expected. Part-time Pre-School / Junior School Art Teacher

Applications are invited for a position as a Part-Time Art Teacher.  Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in more than one of the School’s Languages of Instruction. This position is not currently open to international candidates.
