The IST Ambassadors basketball team ended their year on a high today with a big win over arch rivals “the staff”. The match starting off evenly with the teams trading baskets before a Max Hanson buzzer beater had the scores locked at 14 a piece at half time.
The students came out firing in the opening exchanges of the second half with a balanced scoring spread and some exciting play that wowed the vocal home crowd. A combination of great defense and an extremely poor shooting clip from the staff ensured that the margin was extended as the half went on.
The final stages of the match were party time for the students as they dominated every possession and showed some amazing skill to the delight of the 200 strong crowd in attendance (all crowd figures approx). Conversely, the teachers’ afternoon went from bad to worse, running out of steam and unable to hit the back side of a barn, the staff was blown off the court by a well drilled, highly skilled ball club that really did come to play.
Luckily for the teachers the students were gracious in victory with no verbal taunts or ridicule following the blow out win. However, it would not surprise me if the events of this afternoon were brought up again tomorrow morning and tomorrow snack time and during the BBQ lunch and during afternoon snack and after school and on Wednesday and the following day and….. you get the point.
