Science Club News

Science is not just a subject, it's a way of thinking.

The JS Science Club is designed to get young minds scientifically thinking. In today's society, to discover the why and how of the world, we must develop the skills that allow by deduction, experimentation, and application, understanding of the world around us.

The Club's objectives are to :

  1. Develop an appreciation of Science
  2. Build a Science Fair Project

The skills of using the scientific method, deductive reasoning, experimentation procedure, organisation, time management, artistic display and presentation will be strongly utilised. No previous experience needed, but a healthy sense of wonder is required. Parent involvement is not encouraged in the projects!!

Students may join IST's Science Club just for fun, or they may also choose enter the competitive Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair ("SARSEF").

The Head of the IST Science Club is Ms Emma Nelson.

2011 Southern Arizona Regional Science Fair ("SARSEF")

IST held its first Science Club display, originally intended to select 10 entries to go forward - thanks to the ISTPA, we had a wonderful barbecue, drinks and a great family evening. SARSEF sent a senior organising committee member, and as a result accepted 14 entries from IST instead of the usual 10! In the actual competition, Dara Sam won the UA Community Connections award.
