Scholarships

IST offers two types of Scholarship.

Financial Need

IST Scholarship

Families must first apply through "SSS" (School and Student Services), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools, which involves completing an online questionnaire and submitting your family's financial records, including your 2011 tax return when it becomes available. The non-refundable fee for this is $37. SSS generates a report which IST's Admissions Office uses for guidance when making an IST Scholarship award.

Our Scholarship funds are extremely limited. Awards are made considering :

  • the extent to which IST would benefit from the student’s presence
  • the extent to which the student would benefit from attending IST
  • the contribution of the student and his/her family to IST and to IST events, past and future

For a family applying for a re-award, consideration is also given to  :

  • the student's participation in the life of IST
  • the student's performance academically, in the extra-curriculum, socially and personally (ie, the student's demonstration of IST's values)
  • the family's participation in the life of IST
  • the family's performance such as punctuality, payment record, support of fundraising activities and the family's demonstration of IST's values

IST General Scholarships apply to Tuition Fees only and cannot exceed 80% of applicable Tuition Fees. A family in receipt of an IST Scholarship is still obligated to meet the non-Scholarship portion of the Tuition Fees, and any other Fees and expenses which might apply.

Arizona Tax Credit Scholarship

Arizona taxpayers who donate to fund private-school scholarships can receive a tax credit. These scholarships are awarded by outside bodies and regulations change from time to time.

Merit-Based

Patricia Henryk Music Scholarship

Founders' Scholarship

In rare cases, a Scholarship may be awarded to a student entering the Junior School with extraordinary talents. Awards are made considering :

  • the extent to which IST would benefit from the student’s presence
  • the extent to which the student would benefit from attending IST
  • the contribution of the student and his/her family to IST and to IST events, past and future

Note

Scholarship awards are made with without regard to the applicant’s gender, age,
familial status, ethnicity, race or religion.

IST Scholarships apply only to students in Junior School programmes.

Parents are urged to take full advantage of the State Tax Credit Scholarship programme so that IST's limited Scholarship funds can be used to assist as many families as possible.
