Governance

IST is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets monthly and is responsible for determining the Vision for the School, establishing overall policies and ensuring its financial stability. The Board of Trustees appoints the Head of School to to achieve its Vision and to oversee the School's operations. Trustees serve without compensation.

Committees

The Board of Trustees has five standing committees which meet monthly and report to the Board. These are advisory bodies to the Board and cannot set Policies or Procedures, although they are tasked with making relevant recommendations to the Board for consideration and adoption. While members may elect to take on specific projects, they are not work groups such as the Board's taskforces (see below).

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for the financial well-being of the School. It takes an overview of the School's financial operations and reports to the Board on any matter with a financial implication.

Buildings and Facilities Committee

The Buildings and Facilities Committee considers the long-term and strategic needs of the School and is responsible for developing proposals for the School's physical accomodations. It reports to the Board and to the Finance Committee.

Community Relations Committee

Role and membership of this committee is to be defined. It reports to the Board and to the Finance Committee.

Committee on Trustees

This Committee is concerned with Trustee recruitment, and training and development. It reports to the Board.

Strategic Planning Committee

Taskforces

From time to time the Board or a Board committee appoints a taskforce to work on a particular issue. These groups are task- or work-oriented and disband once they have achieved their goal.
