English as a Second Language ("ESL")

Local Students

We are offering English-acquisition programs for children aged 3 - 11 on the same basis as any of our Language programs. Please contact us for more information.

• Ages 3 - 5 = AM program or full-day program including a PM nap. A focus on speaking and high-frequency vocabulary.
• Ages 5 - 8 = AM program with a focus on speaking and conversation with an introduction to basic reading and writing. A PM Activity (see upper left) may be added to create a full-day program.
• Ages 9 - 11 = AM program with a focus on speaking and conversation with more advanced reading and writing, depending on the group. A PM Activity (see upper left) may be added to create a full-day program.

International Students

• Ages 3 - 5, 5 - 8 and 9 - 12
• Tuesday 5 July - Friday 5 August (5 weeks)
• Full-time only (Monday - Friday, 7.00am - 6.15pm)

IST is collaborating with the Center for English as a Second Language ("CESL") at the University of Arizona. An adult student who is enrolled at CESL to study English may enrol his/her child(ren) aged 3 - 12 with us.

CESL provides an English program for children aged 12 and older. Please contact CESL directly for information on their Summer English programs, enrollment, fees. CESL will provide the adult's visa and can assist with medical insurance, suggestions for accommodations and so on.

Enrollment is for all five weeks only, and full-time only. The program hours allow parents to drop their child(ren) at IST, go to CESL for classes and then to return to IST to pick up their child(ren). CESL is a 15-minute walk from IST. Fees include instruction, materials and extended care. They do not include lunch. Students aged 5 - 12 may able to join one of our other PM Activities (see upper left) for 5 - 22 July.
