The International School of Tucson (IST) is located near the University of Arizona, in Tucson. Our school offers an internationally-based and internationally-grounded bilingual programme of instruction in Chinese / English, French / English, German / English and Spanish / English. The School's philosophy and approaches encourage students to investigate topics without being restricted by traditional compartmentalisation or methods of instruction, and thus allow the learner to develop global understanding.
IST accepts students at the beginning of the semester in which they turn three and if they are fully potty-trained. Most students enter in August, although mid-semester entry is also possible. Our Pre-School classes (Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten) offer full-immersion Chinese, French, German and Spanish. Our dual-immersion Junior School (Elementary) offers French, German and Spanish with other languages possible; Junior School students typically take English as one of their two first languages.
Our school strives to educate young people to become leaders who will be at the forefront of the rapid economic and social development sweeping through the world. The demands of living and working in a global economic community necessitates adaptable and flexible young people with the skill-set, knowledge and character to contribute and shape the future and meet the many challenges that lie ahead.
International School of Tucson has, therefore, designed a curriculum that is full of a whole range of experiences, activities and opportunities which will nurture young people who are well-rounded and capable young men and women. All students will be entitled to receive high quality international education that not only caters for their diverse intellectual needs, but also guarantees that their physical, emotional, social and health needs are met. All of this happens in a purpose built school that offers world class teaching facilities.
An international faculty ensures that languages are taught by native speakers who are also able to transmit their cultures, values, information and beliefs.
